Building a Lasting Foundation for Research Collaboration in Asia
A Singapore-based non-profit connecting researchers, universities, industry, and society to drive long-term scientific discovery and real-world impact.
S.A.R.A
Science Alliance For Research In Asia
SARA – Science Alliance for Research in Asia is a neutral, non-profit science alliance bridging Japan’s research excellence with Singapore’s global connectivity. We advance healthy longevity research through sustained cross-border collaboration, support for young scientists, and independent, transparent funding governed by clear conflict-of-interest principles.
01
Bridging Japan and Singapore
Connecting Japan’s depth in basic science with Singapore’s role as an international gateway to accelerate Asia’s leadership in healthy longevity research.
02
Sustained Collaboration
Moving beyond one-off events to build lasting frameworks that connect funding, researchers, and
industry across borders.
03
Empowering Young Scientists
Fostering early-career exchanges, fellowships, and open research networks across Asia.
04
Independent, Transparent Funding
Supporting investigator-led, high-impact research through diverse and balanced funding models.

The
Purpose
Scientific collaboration across Asia often struggles not from lack of expertise, but from fragmentation, misalignment, and weak coordination. SARA addresses this gap by providing a neutral space where institutions and researchers can connect, exchange perspectives, and develop collaboration frameworks that support continuity, integrity, and long-term impact.
FOUNDER
Our Commitment
Dr. Sayaka Yasuda is a scientist specializing in molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate human health, stress response, and longevity. Her scientific background spans advanced live-cell imaging, DIC microscopy, intracellular signaling pathways, and the study of how cellular structures behave under physiological and pathological conditions.
With research experience across Japan and Singapore, Dr. Yasuda has worked extensively on imaging-based approaches to understand how cells adapt, communicate, and respond to external stressors. Her interests lie in connecting fundamental cell biology to real-world applications in healthy aging, preventive health, and molecular diagnostics.
As the Founder and Scientific Lead of SARA – Science Alliance for Research in Asia, she is dedicated to building a collaborative, cross-border scientific ecosystem that empowers young researchers and strengthens regional scientific excellence. Through SARA, Dr. Yasuda connects universities, research institutions, and industry partners across Japan, Singapore, and ASEAN to accelerate Asia-led discoveries in cell biology, translational research, and longevity science.
Scientific Rigor with Translational Purpose
Grounded in cell and molecular biology, SARA emphasizes rigorous scientific understanding while encouraging pathways that responsibly bridge fundamental research with applications in healthy ageing, preventive health, and diagnostics—without compromising academic independence.
Cross-Border Collaboration & Research Continuity
Drawing from research experience in Japan and Singapore, SARA is committed to reducing fragmentation in Asia’s research landscape by enabling sustained collaboration across institutions, disciplines, and borders, fostering long-term scientific continuity rather than isolated projects.
Empowering the Next Generation of Researchers
SARA actively supports young and emerging scientists by creating access to mentorship, networks, and collaborative platforms, strengthening regional research capacity and cultivating future scientific leadership across Asia.

Healthy Longevity and
Medicine Conference 2025
The Healthy Longevity and Medicine (HLM) Conference 2025 was successfully held on 17–18 November 2025 in Singapore at the Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium, National University of Singapore University Town.
The conference served as a catalyst for meaningful progress in longevity science, regenerative medicine, and age-related disease research. Bringing together leading experts from Japan and Singapore, the event featured distinguished speakers and welcomed over 200 scientific professionals and students. It fostered impactful dialogue, sparked cross-border collaborations, and contributed to advancing solutions for healthy ageing on a global scale.
Co-organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and ASAGI Labs, and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, the conference provided a vital platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and the translation of research into real-world impact within the healthy longevity ecosystem.
Early Supporters & Community
A founding circle, built with intention.
Working together, beyond borders
SARA’s early supporters are a thoughtfully formed community of individuals and institutions who believe that meaningful scientific collaboration in Asia is built on trust, openness, and long-term commitment. This founding circle is shaped by participation and shared responsibility, not funding or titles.
By engaging in dialogue and collective initiatives, early supporters help guide SARA’s growth and contribute to a collaborative environment that supports responsible science across borders.
